Each year, Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II give out approximately 850 personally-signed Christmas cards! Though the Queen and her husband send so many, they are not signed by them together at the same time. The Queen affixes her signature while at her Balmoral property in the summer then they are handed over to the Duke of Edinburgh for his signature. Those closer to the Queen like her cousins, the Kents, get a card in which she signed as “Lillibet”, her nickname from childhood. Meanwhile, political heads like the Prime Minister get “Elizabeth R”.
