What: The story takes place in New York during the 70’s and revolves around the wives of Irish gangsters, who take over their business after the they get locked up. The period crime-drama is Andrea Berloff’s directorial debut. She previously wrote the scripts for World Trade Center, Straight Outta Compton and Blood Father. Although it doesn’t really sound like it, the movie is actually based on a comic book by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle.
