Jerry Richardson & Rosalind Sallenger Richardson – $2 billion

Jerry Richardson is a businessman who used to play in the NFL and also used to own a team in the league. He started the Carolina Panthers, which he owned for more than 20 years. Jerry was Drafted in the 13th round by the Baltimore Colts, and played 2 seasons in the league, earning the Colt Rookie of the Year award in 1959. After his NFL career, he used his 1959 NFL championship bonus and opened the 1st Hardee’s franchise in Spartanburg. The business grew quickly. He then co-founded Spartan Foods and was the CEO of Flagstar. He retired in 1995.
