Robert Donat – The 39 Steps – Deceased – 53 Years Old – Brain Tumor

English film and stage actor, Friedrich Robert Donat was said to be the British cinema’s undisputed romantic leading man during the ’30s. His image was that of a romantic idealist, often with a dash of the gentleman adventurer. He was best known for his roles in two Alfred Hitchcock movies. The first is The 39 Steps from 1935, a thriller film loosely based on the 1915 adventure book by the same name. The other is Goodbye Mr. Chips, for which he won an Academy Award for Best Actor.
