Royal members can’t express political opinions publicly
It’s not allowed for royal family members to make their political opinions public. While Meghan Markle was in Ireland in an official visit, a local politician wrote on tweeter that she was happy with efforts being made in the country to legalize abortion. Under the constitutional monarchy structure, royals are not allowed, since the 17th Century, to express political opinions. She is of course not the 1st royal caught expressing political opinions.
Prince Charles for example unsuccessfully tried to hide a series of notes he wrote to government ministers commenting on government policy.
