Lady D’s First Sandringham Christmas

The Royal tradition of gag gifts predates both Princess Diana and Prince Charles. There is an anecdote that revolves around Diana’s first Christmas with the Royals after she and Charles tied the knot in 1981. Apparently, the princess wasn’t in on the joke and bought everyone gifts that would break the bank for an average citizen. While everyone was exchanging toys and small symbolic gifts, Lady D’s gifts surely lightened the mood. It is said that on that Christmas Eve, Princess Anne got a cashmere jumper from Diana while she gave her a toilet paper roll holder.
