Rebecca was Alfred Hitchcock’s first Hollywood movie. He disowned it eventually, but it has stood the test of time. It stars Laurence Olivier as aristocratic widower Maxim de Winter, and Joan Fontaine as his young second bride. Olivier, who died in 1989, was an English actor and director. He was one of the actors dominating the British stage in the middle of the 20th century. The actor also did films and took on over fifty movie roles. He had significant success in television at the later stage of his career.
